TUESDAY 19th December

GUERRILLA GIRLS @Tate Modern

Not very christmassy but definitely a red-hot issue. Why is there not many women's artworks in all major museums and galleries? We have created a child-friendly tour specially designed  to invite children to think about this matter through the work of the 'Guerrilla Girls'. Guerrilla Girls is an anonymous group of  female artists devoted to fighting sexism and racism within the art world. Children will be given the task of finding all female artworks at the museum following a treasure hunt.

WEDNESDAY 20th December

CHRISTMAS MODE 'ON' @Geffrye Museum

Still not in the christmas spirit? Let us help! A whole day planned to get you all ready for the Christmas festivities. In the morning we will visit the fabulous 'Christmas Past' exhibition at the Geffrye Museum: authentic festive decorations, lighting, music and greenery transform the museum’s period living rooms, giving an evocative glimpse into how Christmas has been celebrated in English homes over the past 400 years.  Back at camp base in the afternoon we will watch a traditional Christmas movie, popcorn included!

THURSDAY 21st December

A SECOND WORLD WAR CHRISTMAS @Museum of London Docklands

How was Christmas during the II World War? how families lived this holiday? Was Santa able to get through all the bombing? What kind of toys children had?  A different tour through the galleries that will help children to value the importance of Peace and empathise with those that don't have it at the moment.  After lunch we will join the storytelling session about the adventures of a wren during World War II, children will be captivated by the story of a brave robin journeying across Europe to be with his family and catch a glimpse of wartime spirit.

FRIDAY 22nd December

ANIMATION STUDIO

Stop-motion animation also known as ‘Claymation’ or ‘Stop-frame’ animation is the technique used in film and TV favourites such as Wallace & Gromit, Morph, Pingu and Shaun the Sheep. Children will work in small groups and with the support of one of the teachers per group they'll devise an idea and produce a storyboard for their film, make models/characters and props using modelling clay, producing animated films around 10-25 seconds long complete with titles, credits and music.
